1931 - Gérald Genta is born in Geneva to a father from Piedmont and a Swiss mother.
1951 - He completes his jewellery-making training, earning a Swiss federal diploma.
1961 - He establishes himself as the first “watch designer” and works for the most
prestigious watch brands.
1969 - He creates his own “Gérald Genta” brand.
1981 - He launches a one-of-a-kind creation that will go down in history: the Minute Repeater
self-winding watch, housed in a 2.72 mm case.
1994 - He creates the masterpiece of his complication models: the Grande Sonnerie, which
will come to be known as “the world’s most complicated wristwatch”.
1998 - He sells his company and devotes himself to painting.
2001 - He launches his new “Gérald Charles” brand and combines both his passions:
watchmaking and painting.
2004 - He introduces a stunning showpiece of the Gérald Charles collections, a Tourbillon
created in cooperation with Antoine Preziuso. He develops other exclusive
creations for the brand collections. In parallel, he continues to paint, exhibiting his
works in several countries.
2005 - In collaboration with his new “team”, they work on new collections, including two
other exceptional models, a watch with a “sliding hour”, ingenious and sober,
accompanied with an impressive Tourbillon Maestro set on a Mirror dial in platinum or gold.
2006 - He returns to Baselworld, offering an immersion into a two-fold creative world: that
of timepieces and that of the pictorial art. He reveals himself as an artist who is
both watch designer and painter, inviting people on an unusual journey through
exceptional creations.
2007 - In collaboration with the new talented team develops the “Maestro Carré Squelette”
and presents the project for the new Chrono Tourbillon. |
